Spring Las Vegas Blackjack Survey Update

In the past, we only updated the Las Vegas Blackjack Survey once per year. Now that we host it, we plan on making quarterly updates. Here are the changes that we found in the last three months. This includes two casino openings.

Two Las Vegas casinos open

Virgin Hotel/Mohegan Sun Casino held its grand opening on March 25. We wrote a gambling guide for it the following day.

Mohegan Sun Casino deals five different blackjack games. There is Free Bet Blackjack, Spanish 21, double deck and six-deck blackjack games available for $25. The double deck games allow double down before and after splitting. It is also available in the high limit salon for $100. The six-deck game has the same double down rules with re-split aces up to four hands. These games all hit soft 17.

The six-deck high limit blackjack game stands on soft 17. It has standard double down rules with surrender and re-split aces up to four hands. All Virgin/Mohegan Sun Casino blackjack pays 3:2. Virgin Casino also deals Three Card Poker, Face Up Pai Gow Poker, craps, and single and double zero roulette.

Update: A player reported finding $15 3:2 blackjack on a weekday afternoon at Mohegan Sun Casino.

Pass Casino opened in the former Eldorado property in downtown Henderson on April 1. It is owned by the same company as Railroad Pass. The blackjack is six decks and starts at $10. The maximum bet is $250. Blackjack pays 3:2. Players may double down before and after splitting. The dealer hits soft 17. Pass Casino also deals $5 3-4-5 times craps and $2 double zero roulette.

Mirage removed 3:2 blackjack from pits

Mirage removed all 3:2 blackjack games from its pits. The high limit double deck game is also gone. The only 3:2 blackjack game left in the casino is a $100 six-deck game in the high limit salon. It has double down before and after splitting with surrender and re-split aces. It stands on all 17’s.

Changes to blackjack at some Caesars properties

There were several changes to Caesars blackjack in Las Vegas. All double deck blackjack games left outside of high limit now pay 6:5. The minimum bet for it in high limit is $100. Bally’s no longer offers any 3:2 blackjack games. It is only available in the high limit salon at Paris. Cromwell’s minimum bet went up to $25 for 3:2 blackjack. It is now $50 at Planet Hollywood

It appears that the Bally’s high limit pit will not return. It has been closed over a year. It was replaced by poker tournament tables. The Paris high limit offers the Bally’s $50 six-deck game that stands on all 17’s. It also has surrender. This game is usually $100 at other Caesars properties in Las Vegas.
