Vegas Advantage has learned Buffalo Bill’s in Primm, Nevada, will close indefinitely on July 7, 2025. It will be the second Primm casino to close in recent months. Whiskey Pete’s ceased all operations on December 17, 2024.
Primm Valley Resort will be the only open casino near the California state line along Interstate 15. It is across Primm Blvd from Buffalo Bill’s. Whiskey Pete’s is on the other side of Interstate 15 from Primm Valley Resort. Affinity Gaming owns all three casinos, about 30 minutes south of the Las Vegas Strip.

July 6 is the last day of Buffalo Bill’s hotel availability
The Buffalo Bill’s hotel booking engine on the Primm website shows no available rooms after July 6, 2025. All 2025 dates are blacked out, except for a four-day weekend in November that coincides with a festival in nearby Goodsprings, Nevada. Buffalo Bill’s may be used for overflow if Primm Valley Resort sells out on that and other weekends.
An apparent website bug disallows booking Primm Valley Resort hotel rooms for dates after Buffalo Bill’s closes. Attempting to book a room at Buffalo Bill’s after the closure displays a message to stay at Primm Valley Resort instead. However, completing that process is not user-friendly, and there is no way to book rooms on the Primm Valley Resort hotel page because it forwards to the Buffalo Bill’s booking engine. Vegas Advantage confirmed these rooms may be booked by calling the hotel at (888) 774-6668.
Update July 1, 2025: The booking engine bug was fixed after the article was published. Primm Valley Resort may now be easily booked on Primm’s website.

Buffalo Bill’s did not respond to an attempt to contact the company.
Only one concert is scheduled after the closure
Star of the Desert Arena will continue to offer concerts. However, the summer schedule is nearly empty after hosting shows two or three Saturdays every month for years. The first concert after the closure is scheduled on August 30, 2025, seven weeks later. No other acts are booked in 2025, according to Primm’s website. Buffalo Bill’s casino floor is expected to briefly reopen on this concert night and any others that may be scheduled in the future.
Vegas Advantage learned that there are concerns about ICE raids and checkpoints along the California state line. This damaged Primm’s visitation, especially on concert nights. Primm’s musical acts are often aimed at attracting Southern California’s Hispanic market. Some members of that community have been unwilling to travel due to the increasing enforcement, regardless of their legal status.
Primm Valley Resort heading toward normal operations
Today, Primm Valley Resort only offers slots and video poker. All table games, electronic table games, restaurants, and the hotel closed in December 2022. The hotel opens occasionally when Buffalo Bill’s is overbooked on concert nights and during the Mint 400.
Pony Express Pizza will reopen around June 30, in the former buffet space. It operated in this location from June 2020 to December 2022, when Buffalo Bill’s reopened after closing for nearly three years due to the COVID-19 shutdown.
Primm Valley Resort’s hotel will open daily within a week. The William Hill sportsbook will return to the property on or about July 7, 2025.
Primm will have no live or hybrid table games
Primm Valley Resort will continue to offer only slots and video poker. It had live table games until December 2022, when those moved to Buffalo Bill’s.
In October 2024, Buffalo Bill’s replaced all live tables with hybrid chipless Interblock machines after the bizarre $652,000 Primm Valley Resort cage robbery in July 2024, which included the theft of $27,000 in table game chips that were eventually recovered. All Primm table game chips were canceled and must be redeemed by July 3, 2025.
The Interblock hybrid table games flopped at Buffalo Bill’s. Management decided not to move the devices to Primm Valley Resort, according to staff. The Buffalo Bill’s website showed that these games should have been open during our weekend visit. Staff members were unable to agree on the last time the hybrid tables were open.
Primm Valley Resort has no electronic table games. Buffalo Bill’s has a $1 Superspin Big Wheel and two $5 Interblock multiplayer video 6/5 blackjack machines. These and new ones may appear at Primm Valley Resort after the closure.

Banks of slots removed from Buffalo Bill’s
Nearly half of the slots at Buffalo Bill’s have already been removed. Large sections of the casino floor are empty and taped off or have offline machines. All but one slot bank in the high-limit slots area is gone.

Across the street at Primm Valley Resort, over 100 slots were stacked in corners or offline. Many will go into service in the coming weeks.

The Bonnie & Clyde cars will likely move to Primm Valley Resort
The Bonnie & Clyde cars are in Buffalo Bill’s food court. This exhibit was previously at Primm Valley and Whiskey Pete’s. It is a safe bet that it will return to Primm Valley Resort.

Amusement rides are likely lost forever
Buffalo Bill’s was once home to the Desparado roller coaster, a log flume, Frog Hopper, and a drop tower. By 2018, the rides were only open occasionally and closed permanently in 2019.
The drop tower was dismantled and acquired by the Lost Island Theme Park in Waterloo, Iowa. A similar ride called the Big Shot sits atop The Strat in Las Vegas.
The Frog Hopper sat idle for several years before disappearing. The log flume and roller coaster are still intact on the property. However, neither has operated in six years.

Primm Outlet Mall
The Primm Outlet Mall was once a major draw for the area. Today, a thrift store is the only tenant. Dozens of retail and restaurant spaces are vacant.
Three of the four casinos south of Las Vegas have closed since 2020
Nevada casinos south of Las Vegas struggled in recent years. Terrible’s in Jean, once known as Goldstrike, closed in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 shutdown. The original intent was to reopen it when permitted by the governor. However, it suffered substantial damage in a thunderstorm during the closure and never reopened. It will become a warehouse district. Most of the property is demolished. However, one of its two hotel towers remains standing.

Whiskey Pete’s closed in December 2024. In a week, Buffalo Bill’s will become the third closure in the area since 2020, leaving Primm Valley Resort as the only gaming property in the region.
Gas stations in Jean and Primm have slot rooms. One operates under the Whiskey Pete’s license, so it is permitted to have more than the standard 15 machines allowed on restricted gaming licenses.
Jean had two casinos until 2007. That is when Nevada Landing closed and was demolished to make way for a residential development that was never built.
Primm may be down, but it’s not out
Primm is trying hard to survive in nearly impossible business conditions. Affinity Gaming invested in a major remodel at Primm Valley Resort that included a new bar, hotel improvements, and machine upgrades. New restaurants are expected to open in the future.
Every employee interaction Vegas Advantage has had in Primm was friendly and positive. Gaming offers, like free play, are generous.
Primm made several game improvements in 2025. Video poker paytables have drastically improved. Buffalo Bill’s has $0.25, $0.50, and $1 8/5 Bonus Poker, which has a 99.17% payback with perfect play and five coins wagered, all over its casino floor. This game seems like a big favorite to appear at Primm Valley Resort.
During a previous visit, we found $1 and $5 Double Double Bonus Poker games with seven progressive meters and a base return of at least 97.87%. One was 98.98% before the progressive meters. These machines were missing from both casino floors. However, ones that look similar were stacked in a corner of Primm Valley Resort.
The bar games at Buffalo Bill’s and Primm Valley Resort were all upgraded after a recent remodel. Players will find 98% quarter games and 99% dollar ones. It has become a place worth trying on a road trip or when a local needs a day away from Las Vegas.
Vegas Advantage wishes Primm the best of luck in these tough times. It seems business conditions were going the right way for a few months, and we hope that good times soon return to Primm.
