Rio Hotel and Casino

Previously a Caesars property, Rio is now managed by Dreamscape. The casino officially switched management from Caesars Entertainment on October 2, 2023. It is located on Flamingo Road west of the Las Vegas Strip.

The over 100,000-square-foot casino floor has a selection of table tables, slots, video poker, and a sportsbook. Other property amenities include live entertainment, restaurants, a pool, and a hotel.

Before we became Las Vegas locals, we stayed at the Rio. We decided to check out the all-suite hotel for our second Vegas vacation. The rooms were spacious, and free performances took place above the casino floor. These shows have since stopped, taking much of the energy they brought.

However, KISS minigolf is still a family favorite. The arcade and minigolf are KISS-themed. A live DJ plays the band’s biggest hits while mini-golfers try to miss KISS obstacles on the course. Blacklights add to the fun, so players can dress accordingly if planning ahead.

There was a time when the casino was a great hangout for locals. We enjoyed great drink specials at the bars. We also made memories with friends in the sportsbook. Maybe the management change will bring back the vibe Rio has been missing.

We also spent time in Rio’s convention space. John played in four WSOP events between 2005 and 2011. Kristina later attended an education conference when she taught middle school mathematics.

During our 21st-anniversary world-record run, we played slots because keno was unavailable. Rio was casino visit number 27 out of 93.

Rio Casino

During our March 2024 visit to Rio, slots, video poker, and electronic table games on the casino floor were mostly online. However, construction continues on the casino floor. In addition to slots, the newly remodeled high limit room has two table games and a lounge area.

Rio has more than 1000 slot and video poker machines. There is also a William Hill Race and Sports Book. The poker room closed in March 2020. It now has slots.

During our October visit, signs in the casino advertised a better players club than Boyd Rewards, Caesars Rewards, and Stations Boarding Pass. Read more about our thoughts on Rio Rewards.

Vegas DisAdvantage Award: Worst DisAdvantage Locals Roulette in 2023: Rio

Unfortunately, the casino opens its triple zero roulette table before its double zero one. That is why Rio won the 2023 Vegas Worst DisAdvantage Award for Locals Roulette.

Electronic table games are limited. Two game titles are available across three multiplayer machines.
