Downtown Las Vegas Craps Report

There are 12 downtown Las Vegas casinos. All deal live craps. Our March 2022 newsletter covered each of these games. Now that we have published that information on our Las Vegas craps page, we can share what we found in the downtown market.

Unlike the Strip, where all but one casino offers 3-4-5 times odds, there is a lot of variance in craps rules in downtown Las Vegas. The best craps odds in the market are available here. It is also home to a couple of $5 craps games.

$5 craps games in downtown Las Vegas

There are two downtown Las Vegas casinos with $5 craps. Downtown Grand offers it most of the time. Plaza has it during the slowest of hours, typically late on graveyard and in the mornings. Both offer 10 times odds and pay triple on the field.

Update, October 2023: Downtown Grand now only has 3-4-5 times craps odds.

The house edge when the field pays triple on 12 is 2.78%. It multiplies to 5.56% if the field pays double on 12.

The following downtown Las Vegas casinos pay triple on a field 12:

  • California

This list is the three Boyd Gaming casinos in downtown Las Vegas and the three casinos that are not members of Fremont Street Experience.

What about craps on the Las Vegas Strip?

There is little reason to do a Las Vegas Strip craps article. The odds are 3-4-5 times everywhere except 10 times at the Strat, which mostly deals crapless craps. The minimum bet generally starts at $10 earlier in the day and goes up to $15 or $25 at night and on weekends at the lower end casinos. It can be $15, $25 or even $50 or more at the highest end casinos.

All MGM Resorts casinos pay triple on a field 12. Venetian, Palazzo, Wynn, Encore and Treasure Island also pay triple on a field 12. All Caesars properties pay double on a field 12, except Caesars Palace, where it is triple. Circus Circus, Tropicana, Sahara and Strat also pay double on a field 12.

Bally’s will become Horseshoe later this year. All other Horseshoe casinos in other states have 100 times odds. Maybe this will happen with the one that is coming to Las Vegas. Cromwell dropped from 100 times odds to 3-4-5 times last year.

Crapless craps

We have not found any crapless craps in downtown Las Vegas in recent years. The last installation was at Plaza, where it disappeared around 2018.

Crapless craps is dealt at 18 Strip casinos and at Westgate. For more information about this game, check out our crapless craps minimum bet and odds survey.

Note the Caesars casinos that deal crapless craps have different odds on 2, 3, 11 and 12 than other 3-4-5 times odds casinos. Players may only bet single odds on 2 and 12 and double odds on 3 and 11. Other 3-4-5 times odds casinos allow players to bet triple on these numbers.
