Flamingo Poker Room Becomes 39th Las Vegas One to Close Since 2012

The Flamingo poker room announced in September that it would temporarily close for two months. The Bally’s poker room made an identical announcement.

At the time, the prevailing theory was that the staff at both poker rooms were needed to help with the World Series of Poker at Rio. Both poker rooms were scheduled to reopen on Friday.

Three days before it was to reopen, Flamingo told its poker staff that the closure would be permanent. The Bravo Poker app was updated to reflect this change.

This came a few days after the announcement that Bally’s and Paris would host future World Series of Poker events. This was the last year of it at Rio after Caesars Entertainment sold the property and its management contract reaches its expiration.

There were 11 tables at the Flamingo poker room. It dealt a regular 1/2 no limit hold’em cash game. It also had a 3/6 fixed limit hold’em game. It was one of the few Las Vegas Strip casinos that dealt any fixed limit games. It may have had an occasional fixed limit Omaha hi/lo or mixed game.

There were five no limit hold’em tournaments each day, including one at midnight. Buy-ins ranged from $60 to $100.
