Casino Spotlight: Suncoast

Suncoast is in Summerlin on the far west side of Las Vegas. It is owned by Boyd Gaming. It uses the BConnected players card.

Suncoast is a higher end locals casino. It is not on the same level as Red Rock Resort. However, it is better than most locals casinos you will find outside of Summerlin.

Best games at Suncoast

There are several good gaming options at Suncoast. Blackjack players will like the $5 double deck games. It permits double down before and after splitting. The six-deck shoe games have the same rules. The dealer hits soft 17 at all Suncoast blackjack tables. There is no high limit table game section.

Craps offers 10 times odds. The field bet pays triple on 12. Other table games include baccarat, Pai Gow Poker, double zero roulette, Three Card Poker and Ultimate Texas Hold’em. All table games at Suncoast have a $5 minimum, except baccarat, where $10 is required to get into action.

The video poker at Suncoast is above average for Las Vegas but slightly below average for a locals casino. There are no 100 percent games at Suncoast. The best games are 9/5 Triple Pay Plus (99.8%), Not-so-ugly Deuces Wild (99.73%) and 9/6 Bonus Poker Deluxe (99.64%). The denominations are quarter, half-dollar and dollar. These games are in a bank by the bar near the box office and showroom.

The best video poker game outside of these machines is 8/5 Bonus Poker (99.17%). It is available on some bar tops, on several banks on the casino floor, and in high limit.

There are several exotic video poker games available. Dream Card, Ultimate X, Wheel Poker and Split Card are among the selections.

BConnected players club

BConnected players earn one point for every dollar wagered at slots and $2 at most video poker games. Players may exchange 600 points for $1 in comps at food outlets owned by Boyd Gaming. This includes ones at other casinos owned by the company. Free play may be redeemed at a rate of 1,000 points per dollar.

Ruby players do not earn any points. Tier points must be earned to achieve Sapphire and higher. One tier point is earned for every $5 in slot coin-in. For video poker and table games, it is a percentage of the theoretical house edge. This can make it difficult to move up in tiers and earn BConnected points for comps for video poker and table game players.

Active BConnected players receive mailers that include free play, food comps and hotel rooms. This is in addition to promotions like drawings and point multipliers.

Sportsbook

Suncoast offers a sportsbook near the movie theater. It has 150 seats and two walls of televisions. Most seats have monitors. There is also a sportsbook lounge. Many seats are dedicated to race players. Bettors may deposit for Boyd Gaming’s BConnected app at the Suncoast sportsbook.

Poker room

Suncoast does not have a poker room. It folded in April 2018.
