Comparing Las Vegas and Online Craps Games

Craps is the second most popular Las Vegas table game in terms of the number of casinos that deal it. Only blackjack has more installations. Craps is not as popular online as it is in Las Vegas casinos. It is difficult to duplicate the energy of the game. However, it is still a game offered at most casino sites. Here are some ways that craps is different, and sometimes the same, at Las Vegas and online casinos.

Most online casinos offer free craps games

Most online casinos understand that players want to try the software before depositing. Games are often available in free-play mode. This includes online craps. This allows you to see how the software works,  including its speed, features, and the types of bets it accepts. The felt shows all available bets and if the field pays triple on 12. To determine the maximum online craps odds, you must read the rules or play a roll. All this helps players learn craps and its betting strategies.

A handful of Las Vegas casinos still offer free craps lessons. These are usually done early in the morning a few days a week. In most cases, it is impossible to learn the game once you are in a Las Vegas casino.

Don’t pass and don’t come odds may be different than pass line and come

Online casinos tend to offer double or triple odds. However, that does not always mean the same as the don’t pass and don’t come side. It may mean that the player can bet double or triple the flat bet from the dark side. This makes the odds lower on don’t bets as line ones. That is never the case at live craps games in Las Vegas. Some video craps version short the odds.

Bovada and Ignition Casino both offer full triple odds on both the pass and don’t pass sides. One exception is on the 5 and 9 when making an odd bet from the don’t. The smallest chip is $1 at online craps there. This means you should bet even amounts for the best value from the don’t pass and don’t come as there are no $0.50 chips for odd amounts. DraftKings offers five times craps odds.

No hop or side bets at online casinos

Craps side bets

Online casinos generally offer only the major craps bets. This includes pass, don’t pass, come, don’t come, field, buys, places, lays, place to lose, any craps, any 7, and 2, 3, 11, and 12. Hop bets on spread numbers of sevens are not usually allowed at online craps games. There are usually no Fire Bets or All Small Tall, either.

The minimum bet is lower at online craps

You can play online craps with a $1 minimum bet. You may even be able to find it as low as $0.10 at casinos online. The cheapest Las Vegas craps table has a $5 minimum bet. The standard is $10 or $15.  Some Las Vegas Strip casinos start as high as $25 or $50 when it is busy. Even the video craps machines on the Strip usually starts at $5. It is often $3 in the locals and downtown Las Vegas casino markets.

Online craps games are faster than the live game

You can play online craps at any speed you wish. There is no waiting for other players to make their bets. When you are ready for the next roll, you press the button. At live tables, many problems can slow a game down, like late bets, people buying chips, coloring up, or shooting a die off the table.

It also takes time for dealers to clear losing bets and pay winning ones. The online casino software does this automatically.

There is one type of live casino game that allows the player to bet at their own pace. It is the heads-up craps machine designed by Interblock. Otherwise, even video craps machines require delays between rolls to allow players to make their bets.

You can play craps online almost anywhere

If you have an internet connection, you can play online craps in most states. There is software for phones, tablets, and computers. It does not matter if you have an iPhone or Android, or a Mac or PC, there is software available to play craps online. To play craps in a casino, you must take time and expense in getting there while dealing with the hassles of crowds and parking. None of this is a problem when playing craps online.

There is no tipping at online casinos

Las Vegas dealers and other ones across the country earn their tips. They work hard while dealing with customers who do not always treat them with respect. However, the tipping situation in the US is starting to push a boiling point. One way to get out of tipping is to play craps online. Even if there is a live dealer version of craps available, tipping is still not customary.

You can play online craps with crypto

Crypto refers to currencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Many online casinos accept these forms of payment for deposits and withdrawals, often with no fees. There are no Las Vegas casinos that accept crypto for slots or table games. You may find a Bitcoin ATM. However, the fees are astronomical.
