What I Like About Every Downtown Las Vegas Casino

There are many things to like about each downtown Las Vegas casino. Here is a list of some unique characteristics of these properties that I feel deserve attention.

Vegas Advantage Newsletter: We are able to publish content like this because we know the details of all games at Las Vegas casinos. We visit every Las Vegas casino with table games at least twice a year. Major casinos are surveyed at least once per quarter.

You can support Vegas Advantage by becoming a member for as low as $3 per month. This gives you early access to new articles and survey data.

Binion’s

Binion’s deals the best blackjack variant available in the Las Vegas market. It is Double Up Blackjack. The minimum bet is $10. Its front craps table is just steps away from the Fremont Street Experience. This creates a unique atmosphere.

Binion’s is creative when it comes to table games. There is often a new game being tested here. Currently, that game is Dealer Open Pai Gow Poker. In the past, Binion’s tried out table games like Ricochet Poker, Zombie Blackjack, Burn 20 and Double Ball Roulette.

California

California has 41 coin video poker games left. Most have a return of at least 99%. Two are 10/7 Double Bonus, which pays over 100% with perfect play and five coins wagered. The quarter machines are by the Main Street entrance. The $1 coin video poker games are near the front desk.

Circa

The sportsbook at Circa is like no other in the world. It is a must-see for any sports fan. Players that enjoy video poker and sports will like that 8/5 Bonus Poker is available on the machines that overlook the Circa sportsbook. All live blackjack on the floor at Circa, except single deck, pays 3:2.

Downtown Grand

Downtown Grand has $5 craps with 10 times odds. It also has $5 3:2 blackjack. There is a $1 even money blackjack game at Downtown Grand. These minimum bets are often available on weekends. The table game pit is now open seven days a week.

El Cortez

El Cortez is home to the last 3:2 single deck blackjack game in Las Vegas. All blackjack here pays 3:2. El Cortez has about 200 coin-operated video poker machines. That is more than the other four Las Vegas casinos with coin games combined. Most El Cortez coin games at the quarter denomination and higher return at least 99%.

Four Queens

The best bar top video poker game in Las Vegas is offered by Four Queens. It is the 99.96% version of 10/6 Double Double Bonus. It is available in half-dollar and dollar denominations. Four Queens also has several quality video poker games on its floor. Its great players club adds to the video poker value. Like its sister property Binion’s, Four Queens deals Double Up Blackjack.

Fremont

Fremont still deals 3:2 double deck blackjack in its pit. It also has four video poker games that return at least 99%. The denominations go from quarter up to $5.

Golden Gate

The atmosphere at Golden Gate is like no other. It is a Las Vegas throwback. At night, the table games at Golden Gate transform from a time machine to a party pit. All blackjack pays 3:2 at Golden Gate. If you like to play video poker at the Golden Gate bar, I recommend its best game, 8/6 Bonus Poker Deluxe.

Golden Nugget

Nearly all table games except craps, pai gow poker and 3:2 blackjack are available for $5 at Golden Nugget. No other downtown Las Vegas casino has these same consistently low minimum bets on poker pit games. Golden Nugget is home to the only downtown Las Vegas poker room.

Main Street Station

Main Street Station is home to 20 times odds at craps, the highest in Las Vegas. It has some 99% and better video poker games.

Plaza

The video poker at Plaza is the best in downtown Las Vegas. Options include up to $1 10/7 Double Bonus, quarter 20/7/5 Joker Poker. There are banks of 99% or better machines with games like 9/6 Bonus Poker Deluxe and 9/6 Jacks or Better. Both bars have a few 99% machines. All traditional blackjack games pay 3:2 at Plaza. It is home to the only single zero roulette wheel downtown.

The D

All blackjack pays 3:2 at The D. Its pit always has a fun atmosphere. There are three great bars with video poker. I prefer Vue Bar because it has 8/5 Bonus Poker with three progressive meters. The D is the last Las Vegas casino with Sigma Derby.
