Update – June 9, 2022: The hotel and casino reopening at Buffalo Bill’s was temporary. It closed after the weekend. A company representative told me that Buffalo Bill’s will reopen for a weekend for a September 10, 2022 concert. It will open for any other shows that are booked before the end of the year. Buffalo Bill’s hopes to have the property open permanently by January 2023.
Update – September 6, 2022: The concert this coming weekend is still scheduled. The Buffalo Bill’s casino and hotel will reopen. It will also open for a Jefferson Starship concert the weekend of November 25-27.
Update – December 24, 2022: Buffalo Bill’s reopened permanently on December 23, 2022. Primm Valley Resort reduced its operations, including closing its hotel. Here is that story.
Original Story
Buffalo Bill’s reopened its casino in Primm, Nevada. That is the border casino town along Interstate 15 on the California and Nevada state line.
The reopening occurred on June 3, 2022. That is one day less than the second anniversary of Nevada’s casino grand reopening after the pandemic closure, which occurred on June 4, 2020.
Buffalo Bill’s reopened because it held its first concert in over two years in its Star of the Desert Arena. The performer was Ramón Ayala. The hotel at Buffalo Bill’s reopened for the first time since March 2020. Guests were offered a VIP package for $499 that included tickets to the concert and a hotel room at Buffalo Bill’s.
The hotel at Whiskey Pete’s was also open this past weekend. This was the first time since March 2020 that all three Primm hotels were open. Normally, Primm Valley Resort is the only open hotel in town. The hotel at Whiskey Pete’s has opened for a handful of busy weekends over the last two years.
Two restaurants were open. These were Denny’s and Cuca’s Mexican Food. The amusement area was roped off. All food court restaurants were closed.
Casino games available at Buffalo Bill’s
All live table games were removed from Buffalo Bill’s during the closure. These were replaced by four electronic table games. We found $1 Big Wheel, bubble craps and double zero roulette. There is a six-seat video blackjack machine with a $3 minimum bet. It pays 6:5. Its side bets are Lucky Lucky and Lucky Aces.
The $5 8/5 Bonus Poker machines are still in the high limit slot area. Otherwise, the best game that I found was on $0.25, $0.50 and $1 denominations with pay tables in the 97% range.
Other Primm casino games
Since we were in the neighborhood, we checked out the casinos at Primm Valley and Whiskey Pete’s. Primm Valley is the only casino with table games in Primm. It has $10 Three Card Poker and $15 6:5 blackjack, double zero roulette and craps. The craps game is on a mini table. It offers 3-4-5 times odds. The field pays double on 12.
The video poker at Primm Valley is the same as it has been for years. The best games are $1 9/5 Jacks or Better and 7/5 Bonus Poker.
Whiskey Pete’s still has table games on the floor. However, these have not opened since at least March 2020.
Both Primm Valley and Whiskey Pete’s have video stadium setups. The games and limits are the same. These machines offer $5 6:5 blackjack, craps and double zero roulette. The blackjack side bets are 21+3, Lucky Aces and Lucky Lucky.
\The stadium craps has Lucky Shooter as a side bet. The field pays double on 12.
