Memories from Binion’s poker room
There is no longer a poker room at Binion’s. It closed in March 2020. Golden Nugget has the only poker room in downtown Las Vegas.
The Binion’s poker room had two locations. It was once in the slot area behind the bar on the Circa side of the building. Its tournament area was in the back where a large empty room sits today.
John played in many Binion’s Classic poker tournaments in that back room. He cashed in three events. The largest was $2775 for second place in a $150 seven card stud hi/lo tournament in 2008. His other cashes were in 2010 and 2011.
The Binion’s poker room made several bad decisions in the 2010s that damaged the room’s reputation. Its traffic died. When the pandemic came, Binion’s had few poker players. The decision to close the room in the face of all its history was likely difficult, but was the only logical one.
Blackjack rules
There are four Binion’s blackjack games. Double Up Blackjack with a 3/2 payout is the best blackjack at Binion’s. It has a difficult strategy. Make sure to learn it before playing. Blackjack Switch is the other good variant dealt at Binion’s. It is one of only four Las Vegas casinos with Blackjack Switch.

There are two traditional blackjack games at Binion’s. However, both have an undesirable string attached. There is 6/5 blackjack that uses six decks. The other six-deck blackjack game at Binion’s pays 3/2. However, it requires a $1 Bonus Spin side bet. That rule makes it one of the worst blackjack games in Las Vegas.
All Binion’s blackjack allows players to double down before and after splitting. The dealer hits soft 17.
Craps odds
Up to five times craps odds is permitted. However, Binion’s does not give free buys on the 4 and 12. The player must pay the 5% commission upfront, which removes the value of buying these numbers. One of the craps tables is a tub. It has one dealer. Players toss dice against a wall with glass.
All Access Players Club
Binion’s uses the All Access Players Club. This is the most generous slot club in Las Vegas. Four Queens shares this players club. All Access once again won the Vegas Best Advantage Award for Players Club.
Unlike most other casinos, players receive both cash back and comps, so, there is no reason to decide which to accept.

All Access gives players 0.5% in cash back and 1% in comps to slot players. Video poker returns 0.3125% in cash back and 0.625% in comps on most machines. Some full-pay video poker return half that amount. Both comps and cashback are awarded to players. This generosity is unmatched in Las Vegas.
Entertainment at Binion’s
Binion’s has no entertainment options beyond Fremont Street Experience being just outside its front doors. However, two shows are available at its sister property, Four Queens.
There are two regular shows held at Four Queens. One is a comedy magic show, while the other features a hypnotist. Both acts perform in the showroom near the front desk in the rear of the casino. The shows are open Tuesday through Saturday, and dark on Sundays and Mondays.
- 7pm (13+) Mike Hammer Comedy Magic
Hammer’s 70-minute show features mind reading, double-edged razor blade swallowing, gags, pranks, and all-out mayhem. Every show is unique and includes a large amount of audience participation. - 9pm (18+) Hypnosis Unleashed Starring Kevin Lepine
Hypnotist Kevin Lepine takes audiences on an unforgettable comedy thrill ride in his 75-minute show, Hypnosis Unleashed Starring Kevin Lepine. A certified hypnotherapist, Lepine’s show is infused with razor-sharp comedy and mind-blowing hypnosis.
Enjoying food and drink at Binion’s

The cafe has a classic casino cafe menu that includes a large breakfast selection, burgers, sandwiches, and pasta. However, its prices have skyrocketed in recent years. It is open 7am to 1:30am daily.
A favorite stop with friends experiencing Fremont Street Experience for the first time is Whiskey Liquor Up Saloon. It has a rotating bar with views of Fremont Street. Great for people-watching, a variety of bar food is also available. Additional stationary seating is available, including along the windows. It opens daily at 11:30am.
Other past dining experiences include dinner at Top of Binion’s Steakhouse and Benny’s Smokin’ BBQ and Brews. The steakhouse is open from 5pm to 10pm Thursday through Monday. However, it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The menu offers a variety of broiled steaks, chops, and seafood. Benny’s Smokin’ BBQ and Brews is open daily from 4pm to 11pm.
