Poker Palace in North Las Vegas will close around October 1, 2025. It will be the second North Las Vegas casino closure in two years. Silver Nugget closed in late 2023.
Poker Palace is a quirky casino. It opened in 1974. Like many older suburban casinos, it has no hotel. Poker Palace has one open restaurant called Maddy’s. A second dining space is vacant. Its last use was as an oyster bar. A William Hill sportsbook and bingo room are on the property. About half of the casino floor is nonsmoking.
Live blackjack and poker
Poker Palace is one of only two casinos in the Las Vegas market with live table games but no hotel. Jerry’s Nugget will be the only one left after Poker Palace closes. Since the COVID-19 shutdown, live table games left similar scenarios at Club Fortune, Jokers Wild, Pass Casino, Bighorn, and Alamo.
Poker Palace offers two types of live table games. It has $3 3/2 six-deck that hits soft 17 and a live poker room. The blackjack game is the only traditional one in the market that allows players to double down on three cards. This may be done before or after splitting if the player did not double down on two cards. The only other Las Vegas blackjack games left that permit this are variants like Spanish 21, Super Fun 21, and Most Liberal 21.

The poker room is the only one left in North Las Vegas. It has five no-limit hold’em tournaments a week. The buy-ins start at $20, the lowest in the market. Tournaments offer rebuys and add-ons. A1/2 no limit hold’em cash game may be available after tournaments. The rake is 10% up to $3. That ties Skyline for the lowest poker rake in the Las Vegas valley.
Las Vegas will have 18 live poker rooms when Poker Palace closes. It will become the 40th closed Las Vegas poker room since 2012.
Poker Palace has one electronic table game. It is a Quartz with $1 games like Double zero roulette, 3/2 blackjack, Three Card Poker, and Ultimate Texas Hold’em.
Slots and video poker are lacking for a locals casino
Most video poker and slots are on ancient cabinets that often look like they were converted from coin droppers. That would make sense, as Poker Palace had coin video poker until 2019.
Poker Palace’s video poker paytables are among the worst in the locals market. It has been years since we found a game that returned over 97%. Nearby Jerry’s Nugget and Cannery are far more competitive.

What is next for Poker Palace?
Poker Palace’s land plans are unknown. The gaming license is valuable. It is a grandfathered non-restricted license that allows for full gaming without a hotel or 24-hour restaurant. These are in high demand. However, with the nearby Silver Nugget closed for almost two years, one must wonder if there is enough demand in the area for a new gaming resort that would justify closing a business that appears to have enough customers to be sustainable, especially as the economy looks shaky, and construction inflation skyrockets.
