Kristina and I spent two nights in an Ultra Hip Strip Suite at Planet Hollywood last week. We had a great time.
The room is in excellent condition. It has a seating area and a large bathroom. Here are some pictures of it:
We mostly relaxed in the room the first night. Kristina spent a week in Georgia before this. She flew from Atlanta to Las Vegas, and went directly from the airport to Planet Hollywood.
We played video stadium table games at Paris for much of Thursday. I chose Ultimate Texas Hold’em. Kristina played Three Card Poker.
We both won a little bit on these games. I feel like these are a great option for players near the middle of the Strip. We also discovered a more traditional $5 video Ultimate Texas Hold’em machine at Cosmopolitan. It replaced the Free Bet Blackjack machine, which was previously the same Ultimate Texas Hold’em game that it is now. More details are available about these games here.
Dinner at Gordon Ramsay Grill & Pub
For dinner on Thursday, we had Gordon Ramsay Grill & Pub for dinner. I ordered the three-course dinner. That is beef wellington, soup or salad, and dessert for $79.95. Kristina had short ribs. Much of the meal was covered by my points.
It was great, but staffing was a bit short, something that is normal in the restaurant industry these days. Our waiter apologized for the service. We accepted it, and told him we understood the situation. I saw abuse of several restaurant employees during our stay, so we are just happy these places are functional at all. I worked in restaurants for 15 years and never put up with what these employees deal with today.
All of our other meals were at Earl of Sandwich at Planet Hollywood. It is a great option on the Las Vegas Strip with sandwiches under $10.
Bellagio sportsbook visit
We watched the Jacksonville Jaguars/Oakland Raiders Hall of Fame preseason game at the Bellagio sportsbook. I took the Jaguars and the points, which ended in a donation to the sportsbook.
The Bellagio sportsbook is much nicer than I remembered. It was so comfortable that two people were sleeping in it the entire time that we were there, which was a couple of hours.
We sat in a booth. There was drink service at the table, and then there wasn’t. Luckily, the bar is close. Around halftime, we walked over to the Planet Hollywood sportsbook. It was nearly empty. It was hard to find a seat that was not dirty, so we decided to end our sports watching for the day.
My only complaint about staying at Planet Hollywood is the parking situation. The parking deck does not accept my Caesars Rewards Diamond card like all other properties do. I decided to just pay for parking when that did not work. The credit card reader on the gate didn’t work either. We had to call security from it. They opened the gate.
It seems we were supposed to charge it to the room. This seems like an unnecessary hassle, and the Diamond check-in process did not explain any of this. If you plan on staying there and qualify for free parking, figure that out before arriving, or pay for your parking at the kiosk before going to your car.
