Update 9/23/2025: Palazzo removed this game from the floor. Planet Hollywood recently added it.

Players have joked for years about when quadruple zero roulette might appear in Las Vegas. That time has come. Palazzo on the Las Vegas Strip now has quadruple zero roulette on an electronic table game. However, the wheel does not have any actual zeros. Instead, it uses four gems that act the same as zeros when players make bets related to the 1-36 pockets. When players bet on a gem and it wins, a multiplier spin occurs. The game’s official name is Bonus Wheel Roulette.

When the pill lands in a gem pocket, another ball is released into the second wheel with 40 multiplier pockets. The bet is multiplied by the pocket number where the pill lands. Additionally, the winning bet is returned.

The multiplier wheel has eight different numbers. Here are the frequencies for each multiplier:

  • 1x: 12 (30%)
  • 5x: 8 (20%)
  • 10x: 6 (15%)
  • 40x: 6 (15%)
  • 50x: 4 (10%)
  • 100x: 2 (5%)
  • 200x: 1 (2.5%)
  • 500x: 1 (2.5%)

Players only win one chip on a 40/1 shot 30% of the time. The payout is substantially lower than the typical 35 for a straight 65% of the time. A substantially higher payout only occurs 10% of the time.

The house advantage for all bets covering numbers 1 to 36, including even money ones and dozens, is exactly 10%. The hold on the four gems is 9.25%. This makes it the worst Las Vegas roulette game for most bets. Wagers on the 1-36 numbers are placed separately from gems. No basket or similar bets are available between the gems and numbers. Wagers on gems are limited to straight, split, or corner. If a player wins a split or corner gem, the multiplier is divided by two or four, respectively.

Roulette house advantage by number of zeros

Las Vegas has four types of traditional roulette. The house advantage is 2.7% for single zero and European Roulette, except even-money wagers only hold 1.35% at European tables. Double zero roulette holds 5.26% for all bets except the basket. Triple zero roulette’s house advantage is 7.69% for all bets except the basket. Bonus Wheel Roulette’s house edge is almost double that of a double zero game. It almost quadruples the hold at a single zero table.

Roulette Xtra, a live double zero roulette variant at Palazzo, holds 10.04% on straight bets. However, all other bets hold identically to a standard double zero game.

Always read the rules before playing

Electronic table games can have odd rules that are not player-friendly. Some bubble craps and most bubble crapless craps games now require paying the commission upfront on all buys. Vegas Advantage has found a variety of exotic roulette games over the years with a higher house advantage than a traditional game with the same number of zeros. Some video roulette machines short-pay straights and splits. New big wheels have multiplier spins where the highest payout space was on older versions.

It is better to understand the rules before discovering an ugly surprise on a short-pay or unfriendly bonus scheme.
