Summerlin Casino Comparison

Rampart CasinoRampart Casino

There are three casinos in Summerlin. Those properties are Rampart, Red Rock, and Suncoast. These have three different operators. Boyd Gaming owns Suncoast. Red Rock is a Station Casinos property. A subsidiary of JW Marriott owns Rampart.

Summerlin is in the far west part of the Las Vegas Valley. Rampart is the oldest of the three Summerlin casinos. It opened in July 1999. Suncoast opened in September 2000. Both casinos are located just off Summerlin Parkway on Rampart Blvd. Red Rock Resort opened in April 2006. It is on Charleston Boulevard at the 215 Beltway, next to Downtown Summerlin.

Many similarities between Summerlin casinos

All the Summerlin casinos have one common trait. Each offers much better gambling than casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. Limits are lower, while odds are higher. Summerlin casinos do not offer the same value as those on Boulder Highway or in North Las Vegas, but it is close. You won’t find many $5 table games in Summerlin like you will in the other parts of the locals market.

Best Summerlin casino for blackjack

All three Summerlin casinos deal great blackjack games. Rampart and Suncoast have 3/2 double-deck games with double down before and after splitting for $10 most or all of the time. That game is usually $15 at Red Rock.

All three Summerlin casinos deal six-deck blackjack. It is only on a couple of tables at Red Rock and Suncoast. Rampart has it on four. At Rampart, players may surrender and re-split aces up to three times. Red Rock only allows surrender. Suncoast does not allow surrender or re-split aces in its six-deck game. This game is $10 at Rampart and Suncoast and $15 at Red Rock.

Note that there are some 6/5 shoe games at Red Rock that should be avoided. Make sure to read the sign to make sure the payout is 3/2.

Red Rock has the only blackjack game in Summerlin that stands on soft 17. It starts at $100 and allows surrender and re-split aces. Its $100 double-deck game hits soft 17 and allows aces to be re-split up to three times.

Best Summerlin casino for craps

There is little difference between the three Summerlin craps games. All offer 10 times odds. It is usually $10 at Rampart and Suncoast and $15 at Red Rock. You may find a $5 craps game at Suncoast during the slowest hours. Suncoast pays triple on a field 12. The others pay double.

Best Summerlin craps: Suncoast

Best Summerlin roulette

There is no triple zero roulette at Summerlin casinos. All three offer double zero roulette. It is $5 at Suncoast, $10 at Rampart, and $15 at Red Rock. The Rampart roulette game is only open during peak hours.

Red Rock is the only casino off the Las Vegas Strip with European Roulette. This game is single zero with some extra bets. Even money wagers only lose half when the pill lands on zero. This game starts at $100. It is in the high limit salon.

Table game selection

The table game selections at Rampart and Suncoast are small. The poker pit games offered by each are Face Up Pai Gow Poker and Ultimate Texas Hold’em. Suncoast has Three Card Poker on weekends. The minimum bet is $10 for all.

Red Rock has by far the best poker pit selection. In addition to the above games, Red Rock deals Crazy 4 Poker, Mississippi Stud, and I Luv Suits. The minimum for these games is $5 or $10.

All three casinos deal baccarat. The minimum bet is $25. There is only one baccarat table at Suncoast. It is open during peak hours. Rampart and Red Rock have baccarat 24 hours a day.

Best table game selection: Red Rock

Video poker

Red Rock Resort is the only Summerlin casino with 100% video poker games. This includes 10/7 Double Bonus and 10/6 Double Double Bonus. These games are available in $0.25, $0.50, and $1 denominations. The best game at Rampart is 8/5 Bonus Poker (99.17%). It is Triple Bonus + (99.8%) at Suncoast.

The limits are also higher at Red Rock. You can play 8/5 Bonus Poker and similar games up to the $100 denomination there. It only goes up to $25 at Suncoast and $10 at Rampart.

Red Rock has the widest variety of video poker variants in Summerlin. It has Multi-Strike, Double Down Stud, Dream Card, Spin Poker, Triple Spin, Wheel Poker, Super Times Pay, Split Card, Hot Roll, 3 Way Action, Super Triple Play, Power House, Triple Play, Five Play, Ten Play, and more.

Rampart and Suncoast have only a fraction of these games. I think the only unique one each offers from Red Rock is Six Card Poker. Suncoast has Magic Deal.

Best video poker: Red Rock

Electronic table games

While Rampart no longer has any ETGs, Red Rock, and Suncoast each offer a selection. Blackjack, craps, and roulette are available as ETGs at both casinos. The multiplayer and auto-play stadium roulette at Red Rock has a $0.50 minimum bet, but Suncoast offers 00 roulette with the Golden Ball side bet. It has a $1 minimum.

While craps has a $1 minimum at both, Red Rock offers triple on a field 12. Blackjack games that pay 3:2 are also at Red Rock. Suncoast’s heads-up blackjack pays 6:5. Red Rock also offers baccarat with a $2 minimum on the Interblock stadium.

Sportsbooks

All three Summerlin casinos have above-average sportsbooks and nearby bars. Red Rock’s is by far the largest and most modern. The one at Suncoast is a close second. Rampart’s sportsbook and its bar are smaller.

Best sportsbook: Red Rock

Poker room

Red Rock is the only casino in Summerlin with a poker room. It deals 1/2 and 2/5 no limit and 3/6 and 4/8 fixed limit hold’em. The Red Rock poker room does not deal tournaments. The Suncoast poker room closed in 2018. Rampart never had a poker room.

Amenities

Red Rock’s hotel rooms are at the top of its class. The rooms at Rampart are also great. Suncoast rooms are about average.

Red Rock’s restaurant selection blows away the other Summerlin casinos. It starts at a large food court. There is a cafe and many higher-end dining options. Rampart is the only one of the three with a buffet. Red Rock turned its buffet into a high limit salon and some dining options. The buffet at Suncoast is still walled off from the casino.

Rampart has a small dining selection. Its casual options are lacking in service and quality. Suncoast has some decent quick-serve options, but little in the way of high-end dining.

Red Rock and Suncoast both have movie theaters and a bowling alley. Rampart has neither.

Red Rock has a pool that rivals Las Vegas Strip resorts. The other two casinos have pools, but not on the same level as Red Rock.

Best amenities: Red Rock
