Why Las Vegas Remains the Number One Entertainment Capital

Las Vegas Strip

Other cities may get their moment in the limelight but when someone mentions casinos, most people will think of one place and one place only. Las Vegas has been synonymous with glitz and glamor for decades and is still the go-to vacation spot for millions of visitors each year.

These days you can visit many Las Vegas casino online sites to get a feeling of the place. But why should you also try to visit Sin City in the flesh too? There are other options available, of course. But when it comes to a trip to remember – but possibly not to tell all about – Las Vegas is second to none.

It is not just the casinos though. Vegas may be known as a gamblers’ paradise but there is much more to discover. Here are just a few reasons why Las Vegas will never be bettered and remains the number one entertainment capital of the world.

History and Re-Invention

There are many options when it comes to a special vacation these days if you want casinos to be part of the fun. There are ultra-modern resorts all around the world. But none compare to Las Vegas. The place first became popular when the railroad connected the city with the rest of the country. But it was in 1931 that gambling was legalized.

Where most states outlawed gambling, Nevada kept Vegas thriving and it became the destination in the post-war years. The Rat Pack helped keep that spirit alive in the 1950s and the way the place has been reinvented ever since has kept Las Vegas modern, without losing its sense of history and place in the world.

Nightlife

The stunning casinos may be a major draw for visitors, but Las Vegas has a lot more to offer – especially when the sun goes down. With no closing time restrictions, the bars of Las Vegas create a unique atmosphere that keeps the city alive. New York is not the only city that never sleeps!

With so many establishments on Las Vegas Boulevard, it is really easy to keep the night going as you hop from bar to bar. This creates a central meeting point for everyone looking to have a good time – and those good times never end. With all the shows and clubs, a quiet night is never really an option.

Luxury

Places like Dubai have become popular in recent years for the level of luxury it can offer visitors. But this is something that the hotels of Las Vegas have been offering for decades. The sheer quality of luxury hotels and casino resorts in Vegas cannot be matched and not all of even the most prestigious rooms come at a high cost.

Some of the very best are costly, understandably. But there are incredible discounts and rates to be found if you know what to look for and when to visit. The amenities and opulence of some of the most famous hotels are up there with the best in the world and can help make your stay simply unforgettable.

Food

Las Vegas has long been known for its incredibly cheap casino hotel buffets. Guests are treated to a diverse range of quality dishes to enjoy before hitting the tables and slots later in the day. But there is another side to the Vegas food scene that has been making waves in recent years.

The city is now home to some of the most prestigious restaurants, many helmed by the most decorated chefs in the world. Celebrities have discovered that Vegas is not just all about the casinos and helped turn the city into a gastronomical delight. Everything is on the menu here.

Scenery

One thing that is sometimes forgotten about Las Vegas is its location. With all the lights and glamor, it is perhaps understandable that a lot of people don’t take in the stunning scenery of the surrounding desert. The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Park is just 15 miles from The Strip – but it feels like it is 15 million miles away.

The whole area surrounding the city is ideal for discovering the unique nature and wildlife of Nevada and will transport you back to a time before the neon palaces were built. There are also other attractions to discover once you step outside the confines of the city that will give you a different perspective on the idea of a “typical” Vegas vacation.

Sports Teams

There was a time not that long ago when the professional sports leagues of the US actively shunned Las Vegas. Maybe it was because they thought being connected with a place known for betting was inappropriate – or that there wasn’t a local market or desire for a pro sports team. How wrong they were!

But in 2016 everything changed. The NHL was the first league to dip its toes into the Vegas sports pool and the Golden Knights were an instant success. So successful that they are currently the reigning Stanley Cup champions

The world-famous Raiders NFL franchise was the next to relocate to the city and now the team has a fan base to match its reputation. There is even talk of NBA and MLB teams calling Vegas home in the future.

It is not just team sports in Las Vegas. Last weekend, F1 held its first race in Las Vegas in over 40 years.

The Strip

Hopefully, all of these elements that come together to make Las Vegas the diverse, interesting city it is today have also helped prove that this place will never be bettered. But, even with so much going on, there is one other reason why Las Vegas will always be the entertainment capital of the world.

The Strip will always be the main attraction for visitors coming to Las Vegas. With so much going on there, many don’t ever leave for the entirety of their vacation. You will have seen that staying solely on The Strip would mean missing out on a lot. But with such pulling power, it is understandable.
